JOURNAL

I wrote previous post about my faux locs however, I’m here with a new and improved technique to achieve them in less time at any length you choose. First let me start by saying, I’m so much better at braiding now I can actually do a box braid, which was nearly impossible the year before. The braids are key to my faux loc success so bear with me.

These are my Cinderella Locs, the name felt girly and magical which is how they made me feel lol.

Pretty sure no one else calls them this, so I’m a lone ranger here but that’s okay, I’ll trademark the name once I start doing them on other people.

See the curly ends? That’s why I chose Cinderella, they’re fancy, she’s fancy, I’m fancy!

Step 1: Braid the root of the hair you have sectioned off for the loc as tight as possible. Not too tight because we don’t want too much tension, but tight enough that nothing is sliding down. It makes for the best hold (I used to twist before I learned to do box braids) and they came loose so quickly it was pointless.. So braid everyone, braid!

It doesn’t quite matter if you braid all the way down or not, but try to go the length of the hair to prevent and actual locking while the style is in.

Step 2: Crochet 2 pieces or strands or Marley braid hair through the root of the braid. THEN begin wrapping the marley hair around the braid you just did and your life will be so much easier I swear! This step right here, saved me so much time…Maybe I just wrap slow in general, but crocheting the piece through before give it more stability, and more hold. No sliding!!!

Step 3: After you finish wrapping the length of the loc, make sure that you have excess marley hair hanging off to make the curlies on the ends. I’m not a big fan of the boho locs that use the really shiny pre curled hair on the tips, they look too uniform and fake. I like variety in my faux locs, and with this method, no two locs are the exact same.

Tie multiple (3-4) very tiny knots at the end of the braid, and then do the same with the marley hair too. The knots you tie with the marley hair, make sure they’re around the braid, or else this will all have been for nothing.

Step 4: Wrap the straight fluffy ends that you have leftover after tying the knots around flexi or perm rods. Dip in hot water, don’t burn yourself and there you have it.

My absolute favorite faux loc method that I have tried so far. Cinderella Locs for the win! I hope you all enjoyed this 🙂

Greetings all, I haven’t written in what feels like decades so time to tidy up and finish what I started, so I can tell you all about my 2018 and how 2019 should be a much better year.

hey 2019

The previous post was about how the magic of the ancestors flowed through me and I was able to slick my 4b/4c hair. Well tonight I’m here to tell you about all the different options that open up once you learn that your very thick, curly hair can in fact be sleek.

In all my trial and error, I did learn that too much product leads to a white flaky look and no one wants that at all. That sounds like a pretty obvious conclusion but I figured it out and that’s all that matters.

The High Pony

One of my absolute favorite hairstyles of all time is the high ponytail. I feel like everyone can definitely rock it, as long as they don’t mind a headache or two…

This ponytail took me all day to prep but I really loved it. I mixed 1 pack of kanekalon braiding hair with a few strands of marley braiding hair to make it look more realistic.

Something about a high ponytail is just so regal and cute!

Also this adorable sea foam faux fur is from H&M and it is one of my favorite pieces.

The High Braided Pony

This is a great alternative to the regular high ponytail because it there is more room to personalize it, with jewels, beads and string.

All I did here was braid down my jumbo ponytail, and then pull some to fluff it up a bit.

On the bottom I tied a black rubber band, wrapped the remaining hair around a flexi rod, and dipped in hot water for a sassy little curl at the end.

This style made me feel very high fashion, I’m not sure why but I may have enjoyed this more than the regular ponytail.

Overall I definitely recommend this as a quick cheap style if you don’t know what to do with your hair for a week or two.

Don’t tie your hair too tight, or you WILL get a headache and try to rip it off before you get back home…

Yes, it’s me, I’m back with many many things to share with you all. Let’s rewind ourselves back to January when it was still winter…OOPS ITS STILL COLD AND WINTRY so you shouldn’t have to go back too too far.

Anyways, here’s that time I was Cat Woman at the Cheesecake Factory in Maryland. I’m not sure if I had been feeling down in the dumps or not, there had been a lot of that around that time but I am better now lol. So when Nyiah (bestie /roomie/ sister) and I are bored and or hungry, which is all day everyday, we like to get cute and treat ourselves to a nice meal or two. The getting cute obviously boosts confidence and makes for an overall pleasant experience, the food is a reward for getting out of bed, leaving our darkness and putting together nice looks.

BAM! There it is, me serving dark Scorpio realness (see what I mean by cat woman). I bought this one piece/jumpsuit/catsuit from Fashion Nova, and I am in love with it. I feel like every woman, regardless of size or shape should own one of these at some point in her life. You can wear it with practically anything if you get it in a neutral color, and it’s super comfy!

I felt like a superSHEro wearing this, even though we only went to eat. Of course y’all know I had to get my pics because I rarely dress up for school anymore. So there I am, with my high ponytail (it’s becoming my signature style), my hoop earrings, my thigh high boots and my stretchy suit.

I’m still a bit weary of Fashion Nova’s quality, and whatnot because of a pair of jeans I received in the past year, but this is one of my favorite pieces in my closet and it wasn’t too expensive either so that’s a plus. Oh and the best part about this outfit was, after I ate, I didn’t have to unbutton my pants, or suffocate while my jeans stabbed me in my rib cage during dinner. Definitely a successful roomie date! ❤
